Don Sims takes a run on the Wildside!

Merrell Adventure Addict, Donovan Sims took part in the Discovery Wild Coast Lite last week.  A three day trail run from Mazeppa Bay to Nahoon.  Don had this to say:

“I was fortunate enough to be a part of the first “lite” version of this event over the past weekend. The race starts at Mazepa Bay and ends with the Surfers marathon, 110km down the coast.

The race started Thursday from Mazepa to Seagulls, a 36km trail and beach run. It was a very hot and humid day but the river crossings were very welcome along the way.

Friday was a route from Seagulls to Haga Haga, 30km down the coast. I thought I could increase my lead by taking a sneak that wasn’t there and saw me losing 10 minutes to the chasing group, but I managed to open the gap again from Kei Mouth to Haga Haga.

The last day was from Haga Haga to Yellow Sands, then a wait for the start of the Surfers, and then the we race to Nahoon. This was a tough day as the run to Yellows was a 27km run on full high tide which meant the 4 hour wait for the start of the Surfers did us no favours.

At the end of it all I managed to win the event and loved the whole experience from start to finish.

Thanks again to Merrell for the amazing kit, being able to run comfortably from start to finish just made the journey so much more enjoyable.

To the organizers of the event and the tram involved in the running of,  WELL DONE on an event that I’m sure will be a huge “hit” going forward.”
