After a week of further injury woes for the Merrell Adventure Addicts, the pair of Donovan Sims and SanMari Woithe finally lined up at the start of the Kinetic Double Moon 250km Adventure Race at 07h00 this morning.
With Team Merrell’s captain and primary navigator, Graham Bird, out of action for the next few months due to a torn tendon, the team had opted to race two pairs at the Double moon in order for both Donovan Sims and Hanno Smit to brush up on their navigational skills ahead of Africa’s Adventure Racing World Series race in May 2013. However Hanno Smit sprained his ankle on a training run last weekend and it was decided to rest him for this race, with Yolande de Villiers rather choosing to go to the Garden Route 300km MTB race.
With Donovan being left as the “last man” standing, this provided the ideal opportunity for fellow Merrell athlete, SanMari Woithe to join Donovan for her first Adventure Race. SanMari has a strong multisport background and has been itching to get into AR for a long while.
